- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (28 grams) melted
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar packed, light or dark is fine
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 large egg yolk discard the white
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
- 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour (47 grams) equivalent to 1/4 cup plus 2 extra tablespoons
- 1/8 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 cup chocolate chips divided
Preheat the oven to 350F (180C) degrees. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or a baking mat.
In a small bowl whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar and white sugar until the butter no longer looks separate.
Whisk in the egg yolk and vanilla extract until smooth.
Whisk in the flour and baking soda.
Stir in 3 tablespoons of chocolate chips. There will be 1 tablespoon remaining.
Form the dough into a ball about 3/4 - 1 inch thick.
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the top looks golden brown. Remove from the oven and place a few extra chocolate chips on top of the warm cookie.
- Making 2 Cookies: Dough can be divided into 2 equal-sized cookie dough balls and baked for about 11-13 minutes at 350F.
