This Chocolate Chip Banana Cake with Peanut Butter Frosting is full of banana flavor, perfectly moist, and frosted with deliciously smooth peanut butter frosting. The combo of bananas, peanut butter & chocolate is to die for!
I absolutely love peanut butter and chocolate. So when I had a bunch of brown bananas sitting on the counter, it was the perfect excuse to bring out my favorite flavor combo.
(Not that you ever need a reason to bake something delicious though).
Introducing, this Chocolate Chip Banana Cake with Peanut Butter Frosting.
It’s a perfectly moist banana cake that’s full of banana flavor & filled with mini chocolate chips. Then topped with peanut butter frosting, mini chocolate chips, peanut butter cups and chocolate drizzle.
The bananas sweeten the cake naturally and create a delicious mellow flavor that pairs perfectly with the salty peanut butter and sweet chocolate. And while the toppings are decadent, it isn’t overly sweet.
What’s especially perfect about the cake is that it’s super moist with a deliciously soft crumb. This is because of a few main reasons:
- We’re using a combination of brown sugar and white sugar
- Bananas add moisture
- Buttermilk creates a perfectly soft crumb
- And sour cream ensures no dry cake crumbs.
Then since we’re making the cake in a 9×13 inch cake pan, it’s way easier than making a layer cake. I’m sharing the full recipe along with lots of tips over on Oh Sweet Basil, so head over there to get the recipe!
