A thick & creamy Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie that’s super delicious and naturally sweetened. Add is some ground oatmeal for a little fibre – and you’ve got yourself a delicious breakfast that covers all 4 food groups!
A banana with peanut butter is one of my all time favorite things to eat. Potassium, protein & deliciousness. Once upon a time when I went to the gym, it was my go to post-workout snack. Now it’s more my post-tv snack… but one of of two isn’t bad.
I also introduced Jay to the addiction. At first he was skeptical – but he realized my wise ways. I can’t say I’m surprised.
The only downside with eating a banana and peanut butter is the portability. I find it rather difficult to run out the door with a butter knife, banana and jar of peanut butter. Especially when its dark and the streets are icy.
So today, we’re making it into a smoothie.
And getting our calcium & fibre too.
The fibre comes from ground oats, and the recipe uses both yogurt & milk for calcium. If you’re looking to cut out a few calories and some fat, you can use low fat yogurt and almond milk. It’s sweetened with the bananas & a little honey, but you can definitely remove the honey if like it a little less sweet and want to shed a few more calories.
Apart from being delicious, you’ll also love that this smoothie is actually filling – so its perfect for breakfast, post workout or a secretly healthy treat. That’s what I love about peanut butter – it can make something filling and taste decadent without copious amounts of sugar. (I also hate when something claims to be healthy & delicious and leaves me craving sugar afterwards – but this smoothie definitely doesn’t).
Thick, creamy, filled with peanut butter & naturally sweetened – I hope you love this healthy smoothie as much as I do!
