Think raspberry shake – with a little something extra. This Peanut Butter & Jelly Smoothie is sweet with a little hint of salty peanut butter deliciousness. Plus its dairy free, vegan & has no added sugar.
Ok – let’s just start off with a bit of a disclaimer/pre-emptive explanation. I love bread. I’m not trying to dissuade anyone from eating peanut butter & jam/jelly on toast or peanut butter & jelly sandwiches. And in no way am I trying to give dietary advice.
That’s definitely not my forte.
But I know that a lot of people feel icky when eating gluten. And on a personal note, whenever I buy a loaf of bread I start replacing every breakfast, lunch and supper with a peanut butter sandwich which isn’t exactly the most “well-balanced diet”. Needless to say, I try to avoid buying bread.
So whether you eat toast for breakfast everyday, stay away from grains, or can’t be trusted with a loaf of bread in your kitchen like myself – this Peanut Butter & Jelly Smoothie is for you. It has a delicious raspberry flavor with a hint of peanut butter for a sweet & (slightly) salty combo in drinkable form.
It’s refreshing, filled with healthy ingredients & can help power you through the morning thanks to a healthy dose of protein from the peanut butter. And did I mention that its also dairy free, vegan, gluten-free and no refined sugars (depending on your brand of peanut butter)?
Why yes – it’s all that and a bag of potato chips. But not really. Because putting chips in your blender would be weird.
I digress….
To make this smoothie we’re using just 4 ingredients. Almond milk for the base; half a banana for sweetness and to make our smoothie thick; raspberries for flavor, color and that jam/jelly factor; and peanut butter to help fill us up and give it that perfect something extra. I used about 3/4 cup of raspberries in my smoothie but if you prefer a stronger raspberry flavor you could use 1 cup instead. This will also make the peanut butter taste less pronounced. Either way – delicious and totally up to you.
It’s refreshing, delicious and something different than your typical fruit smoothie.
