Silky smooth Chocolate Peanut Butter Sundae Sauce. 5 ingredients, made in the microwave & ready in less than 5 minutes – this decadent sauce is a chocolate peanut butter lover’s dream!I have a love affair with chocolate & peanut butter – so drenching cold and creamy vanilla ice cream with a warm, milk chocolate peanut butter goodness is obviously a great idea in my mind. And that’s what this Chocolate Peanut Butter Sundae Sauce is all about.
Now, I’ve made my fair share of chocolate peanut butter recipes: Flourless Peanut Butter Cookies, Peanut Butter Sandwich Cookies with Chocolate Frosting, Chocolate Cupcakes with Peanut Butter Frosting…. the list goes on. But when the weather’s hot I want a simple, straight forward, 5 minute, no oven required chocolate peanut butter recipes.
And this Chocolate Peanut Butter Sundae Sauce is just that.
It’s a delicious milk chocolate fudge sauce that’s infused with creamy, peanut buttery goodness. Perfectly smooth, and luxuriously thick – it’s basically peanut butter cups in sundae sauce form.
The recipe is adapted from Nigella Lawson’s Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge Sauce. But unlike Nigella, I decided to make my sauce in the microwave instead of on the stove top. Because on a hot summer day, why would you turn on the stove if you don’t have to?
As well, instead of using whipping cream like Nigella’s recipe we’re using a little butter and milk. I don’t always have whipping cream on hand when a chocolate peanut butter craving hits – so this way I can save a trip to the grocery store.
So what makes this Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge Sauce so fantastic:
- Delicious, chocolate peanut butter goodness
- Thick, creamy, fudginess
- 5 ingredients
- 1 bowl
- Made in the microwave
- Ready in 5 minutes
Yes – this sundae sauce is ALL of those amazing things.
To make the recipe, we’ll put all the ingredients in a microwave safe bowl and microwave for 30 second intervals. After each 30 second burst you’ll remove the bowl from the microwave and stir/whisk the mixture. Mine took a total of three 30 second intervals til the chocolate was totally melted. Then whisk until smooth.
Now, as a final warning – don’t try to save time by just putting it in for 1 or 2 minutes and then whisking at the end. If you put the sauce in the microwave for longer than 30 seconds at a time, the chocolate can bake instead of melt and you won’t get a silky, smooth consistency.
At the end of the day this Chocolate Peanut Butter Sundae Sauce is ridiculously easy to make, and the perfect summer treat for peanut butter lovers. Pour it over vanilla ice cream, brownies or just eat it out of the jar – you’ll be in love!
